I hope the summer was a time of renewal, although I know some brothers remained quite busy with Masonic activities. To foster the spirit of continuing education, I have sent a thought-provoking Short Talk Bulletin to the Master Masons. And to create some lodge pride, there is a little something else in the works…
With the return to lodge in September, we begin a busy fall season, starting with Jerusalem #49 hosting Blue Lodge Council on the 9th. That evening, there will be an education program on the Scottish Rite, adding extra appeal to the gathering. I hope we have a strong attendance from local brothers.
The fall will see the continuation of the Masonic journey for our two Entered Apprentices, with further in-lodge education, followed by a FellowCraft degree in October.
In October, the schedule kicks into high gear. On the 12th, we are teaming with Harmony Lodge #67 for a joint table lodge in New Canaan. Indian food and fellowship is on the menu. There may even be a souvenir… It should be a great time.
On the 19th is the statewide open house. This will be a great opportunity to raise community awareness, as will the Halloween Walk at the end of the month, where we will again give out candy and lodge-branded pencils to about a thousand trick-or-treaters.
November, we will begin looking ahead, with the senior officer seminar at Grand Lodge, then moving on to the election of officers for 2014. There is a lot of Masonic action this coming season, and I sincerely hope you’re able to get involved, whether it is hands-on with activities or with independent study for those who can’t attend.
Remember, we are a fraternity. A band of brothers. Reach out to one another. Support each other. And make the most our time.
